    Who is this course for?

    This course is suitable for delegates who work near, or may be exposed to, radio frequency (RF) radiation as part of their role.

    It may be suitable for:
    • Telecomunications engineers and technicians 
    • Mobile network installers and maintenance engineers 
    • Riggers and antenna installers 
    • Broadcast and communications engineers 
    • Contractors working on or accessing radio frequency sites
    • Supervisors and managers overseeing work on radio frequency 
    • Anyone requiring Radio Frequency Awareness to access National Grid Wireless sites

    The course syallbus is approved by National Grid Wireless as part of the qualifications required to access their sites.

    Entry Requirements

    Before attending, delegates should ensure they meet the following requirements: 
    • Delegates must be aged 18 years or over 
    • Delegates must have access to their own laptop or PC with a working webcam 
    • Delegates must be able to communicate with the trainer using a microphone or platform chat 

    Failure to meet these requirements may result in removal from the course.

    Radio Frequency Awareness is a theory-based remote course for delegates who work on or access buildings, masts or towers where radio frequency (RF) transmitting equipment is installed. It aims to provide an understanding of RF hazards, restricted areas and ways to help reduce exposure.

    If you work on or access sites with live transmitting equipment, you may be required by your employer or site operator to complete Radio Frequency Awareness training before entering these areas.

    Radio Frequency (RF) is a type of electronmagnetic energy used by equipment such as mobile phone antennas, broadcast transmitters and communication systems. This course aims to help delegates recognise RF hazards and understand safe working practices.

    How the Training Works

    This is a theory-based course delivered online (using Zoom) with one of our experienced trainers.

    Q7. What equipment do I need to join the course?
    You'll need a laptop or PC with a working webcam, speakers, microphone and stable internet connection. Cameras will need to remain on throughout the course and assessment.

    Q8. Should I download the training manual before the course?
    Yes. A link to download a Radio Frequency Awareness Training Manual will be included in your booking email. We recommend reviewing it before the course, as it can also be used during the assessment and training.

    At the end of the course, delegates will receive a link to an online assessment by email and in the webinar chat. The assessment consists of 11-mulitple-choice questions.

    Delegates who successfully complete the course will receive a digital certificate of attendance valid for three years.
